He accordingly centered around seeing how culture and governmental issues may hinder or prod progressive change, or, in other words, he concentrated on the political and social components of intensity and control (notwithstanding and related to the monetary component). Accordingly, Gramsci’s work is a reaction to the bogus expectation of Marx’s hypothesis that upheaval was unavoidable, given the logical inconsistencies characteristic in the arrangem ent of entrepreneur creation. Assignment on Human Trafficking and Prostitution

Task on Human Trafficking and Prostitution Human dealing and prostitution both are not new issues to get took note. In south Asian nations, human dealing and prostitution are escaping center as though there is no privilege called human right. Bangladesh is one of the south asian nations where human rights are not grown at this point. Human dealing, particularly in youngsters and ladies, has been expanding in Bangladesh. This criminal business is connected with the globalization and this business is developing over the world. Human dealing, indeed, is an exchange human substance, especially when young ladies fall prey to it. [1] After the dealing part, prostitution comes in second. More often than not it has been seen that dealt ladies or youngsters functions as prostitution in different nations. Some more than 25,000 ladies and youngsters are dealt out of the Bangladesh to different nations consistently, which is exceptionally disturbing for Bangladesh. [2] In expressions for human dealing and prostitution ladies and kids are the most widely recognized casualties than men. Bangladesh is known as a à ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¥ ¾source㠢â‚ ¬Ã¥ ¸ nation as men, ladies and youngsters from more unfortunate and powerless families are gathered and pirated out of India, Pakistan, UAE, Europe, America etc.â [3]â As a creating nation Bangladesh doesn't know about the Human Right (dealing or prostitution) which is obligatory for a cultivated country. Bangladeshi government isn't finding a way to dispose of human dealing and prostitution issues. In Bangladesh primarily needy individuals are getting included into that issue. Absence of legitimate observing, controlling and powerful execution of law against human dealing and prostitution are the main drivers of that issue. There are sufficient laws in Bangladesh on human rights yet a large portion of them are idle that is the reason hoodlums are getting opportunities to accomplish more wrongdoing. Due to poor execution of laws most the casualties are not getting right equity. In the event that Bangladesh government finds a way to limit that issue, at that point the human rights will be endure in any case appropriate development can not be made for Bangladeshi individuals. HUMAN TRAFFICKING AND PROSTITUTION IN BANGLADESH Human dealing includes moving individuals from the networks in which they live by the danger or utilization of savagery, misleading or compulsion with the goal that they can be misused as constrained or subjugated specialists for sex or work. At the point when youngsters are dealt, no brutality, duplicity or compulsion should be included, it is simply the demonstration of moving them into exploitative work comprises trafficking. [4] The Constitution expresses that every individual is qualified for pick her own calling/occupation or exchange. Exploiting the helplessness of the neediness stricken or opportunity looking for individuals, deceitful people (tissue merchants) power, tempt, draw or sell minors and other artless people into prostitution. They cause them to execute sworn statements before bogus judges/impersonators expressing that they have gone into prostitution independently and they are more than 18 years of age. Most reports accentuate that, as of late, there has been a noteworthy increment in the quantity of youngsters and ladies being dealt from Bangladesh into India and different nations. The reasons for dealing and the components prompting this clear increments as of late are numerous and entangled. These elements are implanted inside the financial structure of the nation and require a top to bottom examination. As per the dealing record it has been seen that there are some gathering which are turning out to be casualties, those gatherings can be ordered as poor ladies and youngsters, surrendered ladies, widows and isolated ladies, young ladies of broken families, vagrants, ethnic minorities. [5] Those dealt casualties are utilized for constrained work (household work, ranch work, and industrial facility work), constrained sexual assistance (prostitution, barmaids, work in sex the travel industry and sex entertainment), asking, sneaking, organ deal, camel maneuvering. In Bangladesh there are a few methodologies of human dealing a portion of those are selling an individual by relatives, neighbor, and companions, drawing out an individual with a guarantee of employment or marriage, capturing an individual. The vast majority of the cases ladies and youngsters are for the most part enlisted from rustic regions or humble communities. In the transshipment procedure they are given over and taken over by various procurers, dealers and middle people, ordinarily not referred to specialists as ones with criminal. Dealers ordinarily take help of neighborhood individuals and townspeople to distinguish poor families. Dealers work in an interior system having operators make contracts with clueless ladies and youngsters around transport and train stations. Prostitution is lawful in Bangladesh however as indicated by our way of life and network framework that doesn't go with Bangladesh. As indicated by the law Female prostitution with least age 18 is lawful. Male prostitution is illicit. Female prostitution is lawful, Male prostitution is illicit, albeit neighborhood NGOs asserted it is basic in the significant urban communities. The specialists for the most part overlooked the base age of 18, frequently bypassed by bogus explanations old enough, for lawful female prostitution. The legislature once in a while arraigned procurers of minors, and enormous quantities of underage young ladies in prostitution worked in houses of ill-repute. Neighborhood NGOs evaluated the all out number of female whores was upwards of 100,000. The UN Childrens Fund (UNICEF) assessed in 2004 that there were 10,000 underage young ladies utilized in business sexual misuse in the nation, however different evaluations set the figure as high as 29,000. Dealing of ladies inside and universally stayed a difficult 6. Upwards of 10,000 kids were utilized in houses of ill-repute for business sexual abuse, and procurers of minors were once in a while indicted. Government defilement extraordinarily encouraged the way toward dealing. Police and neighborhood government authorities frequently disregarded dealing in ladies and kids for business sexual abuse and were effectively paid off by massage parlor proprietors and pimps. Dealing and Prostitutions Routes in Bangladesh: 6 US Department of State Bureau of Democracy, Human Rights, and Labor, 2008 Human Rights Report: Bangladesh, 7 Rahman Mahfuzur , Human Trafficking: Children and Women are the most exceedingly awful casualties. (Bangladesh: News Network, 2004). P. 25 Bangladesh and India have 4,222 km of regular outskirts extending more than 28 locale of Bangladesh. As indicated by sources, Brahmanbaria, Chittagong, Chuadanga, Comilla, Cox㠢â‚ ¬Ã¥ ¸s Bazar, Dinajpur, Jessore, Jhenaidah, Joypurhat, Jushtia, Lalmonirhat, Meherpur, Chapainawabganj, Nilpahar, Panchagarh, Rajshahi and Satkhira are the regions through which youngsters and ladies are often snuck out of the nation. Presently this dealing and prostitution are excluded from just India, presently speeded in different nations as Nepal, Sri Lanka, Pakistan, China, Myanmar, Thailand, Japan 7. Reasons for Human Trafficking and Prostitution in Bangladesh: Bangladesh is certifiably not a created nation such a significant number of sufferings are here for individuals. Needy individuals endure a great deal as food issue, medical issue, sanitation, material issue, instruction issue and some different sufferings, there is no closure. From these issues those individuals engage in untrustworthy works. Some piece of the individuals take risks of languished individuals and use them over dealing or security. So the quantity of dealt and whore are expanding in Bangladesh step by step. Destitution is positively driving rustic young ladies to urban areas. They accept position in the piece of clothing industrial facilities or work as housemaids or in some other parts. Their bosses explicitly manhandle and pester them lastly drive them accordingly loosing modesty to the calling of prostitution. Prostitution is certainly not another marvel in Bangladesh. Religion in spite of the fact that doesn't allow prostitution, its law doesn't keep a lady from t urning into a whore in the event that she jumps at the chance to be. This most established foundation having enrooted somewhere down in the general public can not be abrogated for the time being. None can, be that as it may, characterize human prostitution basically as the utilization of sexual reactions for a ulterior reason. This would incorporate an incredible segment of all social conduct, particularly that of ladies. It would incorporate marriage, for instance, wherein ladies exchange their sexual favors for a financial and societal position provided by men. Being quelled under developing financial emergencies, ladies and minor young ladies are compelled to participate in prostitution for endurance. An ever increasing number of kids are joining this calling. While a large portion of them start this calling under the suppression of monetary hardship they are presented to a few vulnerabilities. They are compelled to share their well deserved cash with an outsider. Watchman, for e xample, senior sisters, siblings, guardians are tolerating this calling. It is hard to have the measurements of gliding and lodging sex laborers since they neither have a specific areas nor do they keep up any enrollment. It is critical to guarantee legitimate usage of the laws with respect to the privileges of the sex laborers and to guarantee their all out freedom so they can take the same number of customers as their bodies grant. Nonetheless, Hotel sex working is a rising elements of sex working in Bangladesh as far as the rate and volumes with the declining pattern of massage parlor sex with the resulting removal of the most established and greatest houses of ill-repute in Bangladesh. Law against Human Trafficking and Prostitution: Laws and rules are accessible in Bangladesh however issue is the execution of law is the primary issue. We don't rehearse what is as indicated by the law and rules. The intensity of law is bit low here that is the reason the wrongdoing and defilement rates are expanding in Bangladesh step by step. On account of dealer and business of prostitution, laws are not getting extremely successful against that. Under Bangladesh㠢â‚ ¬Ã¥ ¸s Suppression of Violence Against Women and Children act (2000) dealing of ladies and childr

Factors of a reaction lab Essay

Theory As indicated by the impact hypothesis, the pace of a response relies upon the recurrence of crashes between responding particles. The more regular the crashes, the quicker the pace of the response. Notwithstanding, all together for the impacts to be viable, the particles must crash into adequate vitality (initiation vitality). Besides, the particles must crash into the best possible direction. The point of this lab is to build how regularly impacts happen. Hypothetically, we ought to have the option to accomplish this by expanding the HCl focus. Be that as it may, we will rather diminish the HCl fixation in light of the fact that it’s simpler by weakening it with water. We along these lines anticipate that by diminishing the HCl fixation, it should take more time for the response to deliver the foreordained measures of hydrogen gas that we are watching. Factors Autonomous the convergence of HCl Subordinate the pace of the response Controlled-Size of test tube Syringe type Clock Mass of Zn Volume of HCl Size of the plug Controlling Variables size of test tube-we utilized a similar test tube for the majority of the preliminaries syringe type-we utilized a similar syringe for all the preliminaries clock we utilized a similar clock for all the preliminaries mass of zn-we kept the mass of zn steady 1.00g size of the plug we utilized a similar plug Methodology 1. Get a test tube rack, a test tube, a plug that fits snuggly into the test tube and a syringe. 2. Spot the test tube into the test tube rack and connect the syringe to the test tube. 3. Utilizing an electric parity, acquire an example of powdered Zn that weighs 1.00 g precisely. 4. Pour the 1.00g example of powdered Zn into the test tube. 5. Get two containers. Fill one with HCl and the other with non-refined water. Make certain TO LABEL THE BEAKERS APPROPRIATELY! 6. Utilizing a 10ml graduated chamber and pipette, measure out 10 ml of HCl. 7. Empty the HCl into the test tube, rapidly plug the test tube with the plug, and pull somewhat on the syringe’s end to ensure the hydrogen gas will course through. 8. Record the to what extent it takes for the marker on the syringe to reach, 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5 cm3. 9. Rehash with HCl convergences of 0.8 mol dm-3 and 06 mol dm-3. 10. Perhaps utilize a straw or something to that effect to ensure the Zn gets to the base of the test tube. Also, similar to blow into the straw (delicately!) to guarantee that none of the Zn stalls out to within the straw. We didn’t utilize a similar syringe for all the preliminaries since we were attempting to get all the preliminaries in around the same time. Utilize a similar syringe for all preliminaries. We didn’t get all the preliminaries in around the same time. I think it took us three classes. Therefore, every day we were working in various room temperatures. Sort out ourselves better with the goal that we get all the preliminaries in around the same time. We couldn’t dry the test tube accurately. Each time we dried it there was despite everything water at the base of the cylinder. Possibly like connect a paper towel to a stirrer and trade it around inside the test cylinder to dry it out. Internet based life assumes an imperative job in all parts of organizations these days. It has helped in transforming correspondences into intelligent exchanges among associations, networks and people which has prompted an a lot legitimate spread of data. It might incorporate online or versatile based advancements and the presence in numerous structures has made it all the all the more enticing and has become a need today in the business world. An online networking showcasing administrator must be explicit in these capabilities because of the genuinely new idea of internet based life when contrasting it with different roads of promoting like TV, print and radio (Franklin, B. ). Most company’s principle objective is to minimize its expenses. Organizations do as such by making their own coordinations and conveyance of their items. They have figured out how to diminish costs by requesting high efficiency from their representatives, however compensation paid don't satisfy the need. They have likewise pushed a considerable lot of their providers to redistribute their items so they can create more at a lower cost. Wal-Mart for instance endeavors to direct strategic policies by the law, however throughout the years have been exposed to more than 5,000 claims extending from segregation to uncalled for work rehearses, which implies that individuals from the partnership may not be keeping the laws as expressed. There are additionally issues with rural spread and lost positions from re-appropriating. Rundown and break down techniques for elective debate goals and figure out which would be best in settling certified questions that emerge with customers who may make buys from organizations that give joins by means of web based life. Settling a debate ought to consistently be thoroughly considered before any methodology is endeavored. The impact could at some point be more harming than the underlying issue. One ought to consistently consider the â€Å"what ifs† and the â€Å"if this, at that point what.† I for one have consistently been the sort to give thought before responding. Continuously start to unravel a question through exchange. The question being between two individuals in a gathering, the initial step will be: haggle before the issue needs to come up once more. On the off chance that the debate is as yet uncertain, at that point we will move to the subsequent stage. The subsequent methodology will join arrangement and intercession. Continuously pick a group chief and depend in the group head to be the middle person for the question between the two colleagues, with the goal that they can arrange their debate. In the event that the group chief is unified with the contest, at that point we will depend on the following delegated pioneer to intercede the circumstance. On the off chance that there is no advancement with the question, consistently follow-up attempt to determine it through intervention or mediation. This progression directs that: The pioneer of the gathering will take the contest to the suitable pioneer; there the pioneer will go in the correct direction required for this question to be settled. On the off chance that the debate is sensible, the pioneer will have the option to intercede and won't have to make commanding move. Intervention is likewise a casual option in contrast to case. Middle people are people prepared in exchanges, who unite contradicting gatherings and endeavor to work out a settlement or understanding that the two gatherings acknowledge or dismiss. Intervention is utilized for a wide extent of case-types extending from adolescent lawful offenses to central government arrangements with Native American Indian clans. Intervention has additionally become a huge technique for settling questions among financial specialists and their stock merchants. Since purchaser exchanges via web-based networking media can happen across state lines, decide how the government can best control these exchanges. It has regularly been seen that long range interpersonal communication destinations, for example, Facebook, MMS, Twitter, and so forth become a media in spreading promulgation through video clippings and messages of occurrences with mutual hints †actuating disdain among different networks prompting erupting of the collective circumstance. In the present lawful system, control of such long range informal communication locales is required to be finished by focal government. We are very fortunate to live in a nation where we have the ability to speak freely. I can’t even start to understand theâ thought of the legislature having the option to control our privilege of free discourse. The administration certainly doesn't reserve the privilege to control online life; internet based life is an approach to openly communicate your considerations, conclusions and thoughts. One of the essential issues with how the state tries to control online networking, or advancements in general, is that they are coming at it off course. It appears that current strategies are just being refreshed to be made to apply to long range informal communication, when in truth what is required is a finished update of the framework with regards to ideas, for example, copyright and protection. The truth of the matter is that these ideas will never be the equivalent again. It is practically hard to envision that these ideas will exist at all later on, as social innovation has flipped everything completely around. We’re seeing this come into realization in the music business at this moment, which is in a total wreckage since old copyright laws that appeared in the 1700’s are to a great extent despite everything expected to apply today. The issue of government control of information and users’ protection is coming into the fore now in view of the expanding measure of information that interpersonal organizations hang on us. What's more, in addition to the fact that this is developing in volume, yet additionally in type. It is not, at this point pretty much perusing history, however social stages contain fluctuating types of information that surrender a total make of our individual. While this adds to things, for example, directed segment publicizing, which I am a backer of managing insignificant standard promotions, the administration obviously needs to step in here. Informal communities, as exclusive organizations will normally be propelled by what gives them the best net revenue. While this may happen close by a craving to join individuals. We can just confide in our administrations to create arrangements which don’t have this industrialist want as a top priority. However what we’re seeing are arrangements that could genuinely ruin the development of the interpersonal interaction industry (Pearson). Look at the three (3) parts of government and examine which can effectuate the most critical effect on directing purchaser exchanges through online networking outlets. Bolster your choice. Our government has three sections. They are the Executive, (President and around 5,000,000 laborers) Legislative (Senate and House of Representatives) and Judicial (Supreme Court and lower Courts). The President of the United States oversees the Executive Branch of our administration. He upholds the laws that the Legislative Branch (Congress) makes. The Legislative piece of our administration is called Congress. Congress makes our laws. The Judicial piece of our government incorporates the Supreme Court and 9 Justices. They are extraordinary adjudicators who decipher laws as indicated by the Constitution. (Brinkmann, R. , Garren, S. ) I for one consider the to be court similar to the most significant and having the greatest effect toward online life. On the off chance that somebody is getting sued by another person about a post or picture that they may have posted on their own internet based life website, the legal court would supervise the case if the individual advances the ability to speak freely battle. This being a sacred right, the other individual would need to demonstrate to the Supreme Court that what was composed or posted was in actuality un-established and not only ability to speak freely. Clarify the organization relationship that exists via web-based networking media locales between the internet based life supplier and organizations that use the website for publicizing. Web based publicizing, utilizes the Internet to convey limited time advertising messages to buyers. It incorporates email showcasing, web crawler promoting, internet based life showcasing, numerous sorts of show publicizing (counting web standard promoting), and portable publicizing. Like other publicizing media, web based promoting every now and again includes both a distributer, who incorporates ads into its online substance, and a promoter, who gives the notices to be shown on the publisher’s content. Other potential members incorporate publicizing offices who help produce and spot the advertisement duplicate, a promotion server who mechanically conveys the promotion and tracks insights, and publicizing offshoots who accomplish autonomous special work for the sponsor. Online life is a stage that is effectively open to anybody with web get to. Expanded correspondence for associations cultivates brand mindfulness and frequently, improved client support (Zeff, R. , Aronson, B. ). Web-based social networking showcasing programs generally focus on endeavors to make content that stands out and urges perusers to impart it to their informal communities. A corporate message spreads from client to client and probably reverberates on the grounds that it seems to originate from a believed, outsider source, rather than the brand or organization itself. I realize the promoting chips away at online networking locales, since I have seen something as an afterthought and visited that specific website and really bought a thing. I might not have even been pondering buying that thing, yet in the wake of seeing it promoted or either marked down I was convinced to go to the site and investigate. Making an Entrance

Making an Entrance On my first day at MIT, I fell flat on my back in the Student Center lobby. Rewind four weeks, to a field in Albuquerque, New Mexico, where I was about to start playing Ultimate Frisbee. The teams stretched, casually tossed a disc around, then lined up at our respective ends of the field. I donned my Rooney England jersey that morning, in the hope that it would inspire me to new heights of athleticism (although given his recent showing at the World Cup, that was probably a mistake.) The other team pulled. I sprinted ahead, ready to receive the first pass. My team-mate caught my eye. I nodded. He threw a low, fast forehand, which began curving right. Eyes on the Frisbee, I began to run sideways. BAM. Crashed into a member of the other team, who had come running over to make the block. Foot rolled, lost my balance, fell. Ankle in pain. Head on knees. A chorus of “uh oh”s. Heard one guy say, “dude, that had to be, what, the first pass of the game?” Four weeks later, I arrived at my new home MIT campus with a pounding heart and a throbbing, fractured and/or badly-sprained foot. It was pouring, and I 1) didnt own a raincoat, and 2) was too occupied with the crutches to hold an umbrella. So, by the time I hobbled from my 4th floor room in New House (a dorm with no elevator) to the Student Center, I was soaked through. I nudged the door open, and dripped my way into the lobby, pausing for a moment to catch my breath, a puddle forming from water dripping out of my hair and clothes. After a few minutes, I gritted my teeth and pressed on. Hopped down the stairs. One crutch, the next, and then slipped. Crutches flew up, legs flailed, landed flat on my back. It was very dramatic. Now, the Student Center lobby is a crowded place and this morning, it was packed with horrified faces. Four people instantly jumped up and rushed over to me. They spoke very slowly and clearly, as though worried that the impact of my fall had somehow affected my hearing. ARE. YOU. OKAY? DO. YOU. NEED. HELP? No, no, I answered, mortified. After I convinced them that I was fine, they helped me up, fussed over me some more, and I crutched across the lobby, monitored by hordes of wary gazes. My entrance during Campus Preview Weekend was just as dignified, and strangers were just as eager to help. I spent the weekend with tonsils the size of golf balls and a splitting headache. After a miserable first day, I found myself sitting next to an upperclassman at a lunchtime barbecue. I apologized to her for not talking much, explaining (well, croaking) that my throat hurt. To my astonishment, she leapt up, disappeared into her dorm, and returned with a cup of tea and honey. Her friend hurried indoors and returned with a yellowish concoction that she instructed me to gargle twice a day. While wandering around aimlessly in a sick daze, students, staff, other pre-frosh, and parents would ask if I needed help, or if I was lost. When I was looking for the MITSO meeting and ended up in the wrong auditorium, I asked some guy sitting in the audience for directions, and instead of verbally delivering them, he got out of his seat and walked me all the way there. Mens et manus. Ive seen MIT from the perspective of someone sick, tired, and in a bad mood. In a way, I’m glad I have, because now I know that when that happens â€" and it definitely will, plenty of times, over the next four years â€" I’ll be in a community of people that can pick me up and (literally!) put me back on my feet. Im so lucky to be able to join them :)

Brave New World Vs. The House of The Scorpions - 2934 Words

The House of a Brave New World: Brave New World Vs. The House of The Scorpions Introduction: Dystopia; an â€Å"imaginary† society in which citizens are dehumanized and live what readers deem as an unpleasant, worthless life. Nancy Farmer’s novel The House of The Scorpions and Aldous Huxley’s Brave New World are two dystopian novels that paint a surreal image of two societies on two opposite sides of the spectrum. Farmer’s novel depicts the life of a clone of the head of a huge drug cartel named El Patron. Farmer’s novel takes place some time in the future though the year is not clearly stated. The society is that of a very aristocratic uprising with the exception of the eejits (clones and or brainwashed people made to be slaves) and a few human workers. El Patron, the head of the society, states that the society is somewhere on the border of the United States and Mexico. This is further proved by the tropical climate and growth of grapes for wine as well as several other mysterious crops. One section of the plantation, mansion like area can be described when Farmer stated (6) â€Å"The poppy fields weren’t completely deserted.. now and then he would see horses... walking through the pale white flowers... and with that discovery a desire grew to see even more..† (Page 6) By stating this, Farmer is also able to further instate the uneasiness of the society, as well as Matt’s uprising of questions about his upbringing. Society, Cultural Norms, and Outcasts: Huxley’s Brave New World and Farmer’s The House of the Scorpion both show two different styles of a dystopian society. Along with the revealing of the society comes several odd cultural norms, and those who may question the society (aka: the outcasts). Energy Drinks And Caffeinated Beverages Essay - 962 Words

How can we be so certain that energy drinks are the healthiest and safest option for energy? Energy drink consumption has been correlated with causing seizures, strokes, and sudden death (Seifert et al. 2011). When energy drinks are compared to other caffeinated beverages, it is shocking how similar, yet different their ingredients are. Both energy drinks and caffeinated beverages hold a high sugar content. Also, a primary ingredient in both is caffeine. Caffeine is a mild stimulant drug and is considered to be the most popular used drug in the world (Striley et al. 2011). The differences in energy drinks and caffeinated beverages can be drastic when comparing their caffeine levels. The main health risks that are associated with energy drinks can be directly linked to their main ingredient, caffeine (Breda et al. 2014). Consuming excess caffeine can cause a caffeine overdose. Energy drinks increase the risk for a caffeine overdose simply because of how elevated the caffeine levels are in energy drinks. Consuming energy drinks creates a high probability of a caffeine overdose which is capable of causing many different health risks (Breda et al. 2014). When a person consumes too much caffeine, health risks include: palpitations, anxiety, insomnia, nausea, vomiting, restlessness, and tremors (Bedi et al. 2014) as well as nervousness, gastrointestinal upset, tachycardia, psychomotor agitation, and even death (Reissig et al. 2009). Ida B. Wells Barnett - 1721 Words

During the American Progressive Era, generally regarded as the late 1800s and early 1900s, many ideals were changing among the American people. During this period, which closely followed the end of the civil war, there was an especially great amount of change in what was considered an appropriate way of conducting oneself, especially if one happened to be a black woman. Ida B. Wells-Barnett, an African-American activist who was particularly outspoken on the inhumanity and barbarism of public lynching, can be used as an excellent primary source exemplifying how black women in the progressive era felt that they were expected to be presented. As well as identifying the roles and visions of women in this period, Ida B. Wells-Barnett is an example of a women who broke many barriers, exceeding the limitations put on her by the social constructs of her race and gender. During this period in American history there were strong views held by the majority of society about how black women were supposed to conduct themselves. There was a strong patriarchal dominance over black women, with the subordinance of women being greatly influenced by the remnants of slavery. Platypuses Free Essays

Platypuses Phylum Chordata classifies some of the most unique animals of our time. These animals all are common in a certain way. All chordates have vertebrae, a notochord that runs beneath the dorsal nerve cord, and pharyngeal slits or openings in the throat. We will write a custom essay sample on Platypuses or any similar topic only for you Order Now Additionally, all chordates have a post-anal tail that is almost always lost, a closed circulatory system and lastly, a beating heart. These derived features indicate their common ancestry. Although this phylum contains animals with many structural similarities, evolution and adaptations to selected environments forced animals to change to be able to survive and reproduce. A member of Phylum Chordata, the platypus is just one of these thousands of animals that have to compete to make a name for itself in its environment. It’s amazing how these chordates evolved from simple little organisms like tunicates to complex terrestrial amniotes like mammals. The platypus or Ornithorhynchus anatinus is an animal of Phylum Chordata. This bizarre animal is about the size of a house cat and is covered by thick waterproof hair. Platypuses have a beak like a duck, webbed forearms swimming, clawed hind feet for aid in burrowing, and a broad, flat beaver tail. Also, platypuses have a common opening for the reproductive, excretory, and digestive systems. Male platypuses have sharp venomous stingers on the heels of their hind feet to intoxicate any foe that threatens it. Males are also larger than females in size being 20 inches long and females only being about 17 inches. Their average weight is roughly three to five pounds. Platypuses’ jaws are built differently than other mammals. They have extra bones in their jaw and different muscles. It is a very unique animal and was hard to classify by scientists because it is a monotreme. Being a monotreme, platypuses are one of a few species of mammals that can lay eggs. Also, monotremes are known to have a sese of electroreception. This means that they can locate their prey by detecting electric fields formed by muscle contractions. This ties in with the platypus’ feeding modes. It feeds by neither sight nor smell, closing its eyes, ears, and nose each time it dives. Rather, when it digs in the bottom of streams with its bill, its electroreceptors detect tiny electrical currents generated by muscular contractions of its prey, enabling it to distinguish between animate and inanimate objects, which continuously stimulate its mechanoreceptors. They scoop up insects and larvae, shellfish, and worms in their bill along with bits of gravel and mud from the bottom. All this material is stored in cheek pouches and, at the surface, mashed for consumption. Platypuses do not have teeth, so the bits of gravel help them to â€Å"chew† their meal. The platypus has an advantage being semi-aquatic. They inhabit small streams and rivers around cold highlands of Tasmania and the Australian Alps to tropical rainforests of Queensland. In these places, the population of platypuses is plentiful but not really anywhere else on the globe it seems. Also, platypuses can survive living in burrows as well. They’re generally regarded as nocturnal and crepuscular. This means that they are primarily active during the twilight more than during the daytime. Platypuses are known to be capable of making noises, but these have rarely been heard. Their call is a throaty, clucking sound, and they can also communicate by growling at each other. It is used when they are in danger. Other times it is used a behavioural method to attract mates to produce healthy and strong offspring. Platypuses like to live alone, but they can sometimes share small areas of water together. As you can see, platypuses have strange habitats and communication methods for a mammal. Platypuses are one of few mammals that lay eggs instead of giving birth to live young. The females seal themselves inside one of the burrow’s chambers to lay their eggs from winter to spring. A mother typically produces one or two eggs and keeps them warm by holding them between her body and her tail. The eggs hatch in about ten days, and after, the tiny babies (called puggles) drinks their mother’s milk, which comes from tiny openings in the mother’s belly. The puggles are completely helpless when they are born and are about the size of lima beans. Females nurse their young for three to four months until the babies can swim on their own. Duck-billed Platypuses have a life span of 10 – 12 years. The platypus is unknown to its contribution to its environment. In the past, the number of platypuses decreased due to pollution effects, being hunted for its thick fur as well as being the prey of foxes, snakes, and eels. These days, the platypus population increased because of being put in captivity by the Australian government. They play a crucial role in the food web of streams by foraging on small aquatic invertebrates. Now, they are not under any immediate threats in their environments. In conclusion, animals are living organism that feeds on organic matter, typically having specialized sense organs and nervous system and able to respond rapidly to stimuli. The platypus possesses all these qualities being a sustainable chordate that plays a part in an environment. Its uniqueness of being a hodgepodge of various different animals interested my mind in finding information about its behaviors. Religion, physics and a social Essay Example For Students

Religion, physics and a social Essay The key to humanities freedom lies in its religious and sexual paradigms. Religion, as a social control mechanism, has sought to limit mans sexual freedom. The stigma associated with sexual promiscuity permeates every level of our society. I believe that in time people will demand freedom in the sexual and spiritual aspects of their lives. In order for this to occur a paradigm must be established that emphasizes wholism. Without this wholistic thought conflict can still exist and dogmatic religion is needed to band all the individuals into a splintered and confused mass. Within our current Newtonian paradigm, material realism, true wholistic thought is impossible. The scientific rules of strong objectivity, the notion that objects are independent from the mind and determinism prevent it. Strong objectivity was established when Descartes divided the world in to the objective and subjective spheres. This was done mostly as a compromise with the then all-powerful church, which would rule in matters of the subjective mind while science enjoyed freedom in the world of â€Å"reality†. Determinism is easiest under stood through analogy. Think of the universe as a bunch of billiard balls in a three dimensional pool table called space. If one were to know all the forces acting on these balls at any time it would be possible to extrapolate all future or past positions. This creates determinism and determinism destroys free will. The best example of this phenomenon in society would be the partisan political system and foreign policy. Sociologists and the public in general, see themselves and each other as one of these pool balls being kicked around. In this environment neither self-worth nor confidence is cultivated. These traits are vital in a society that increasingly asks its population to work unsupervised and off of the job site. In 1665 Isaac Newton drafted the theories which set us on the course that led to the materialism dominating our culture. The philosophy of materialism matches the paradigm of classical physics, material realism. Since this revolution our vision has been a mechanistic one. This vision was formed as a direct result of the changes in philosophical and political knowledge that came to light in the mid seventeenth century. The power and simplicity of Newton’s three laws of motion and the success of scientific empirical method caused nearly every influential thinker of the seventeenth, eighteenth and nineteenth centuries to use them as a model. Sociology was no exception to this. Auguste Comte, creator of sociology, first called his new science social physics. Comte delved even deeper into physical scientific terminology when looking for ways to describe the inner workings of social science hence the terms social statics and social dynamics. By subscribing to this worldview of classical physics we give our offspring and ourselves a life full of separation and conflict. Mechanism creates an abyss between humanity and the physical world. There has been no place made for consciousness except as a secondary unintended phenomenon†¦a galactic mistake. It creates a world of conflict and corruption in which everyone looks out for only their own or at bests their immediate families best interests. What then can be done to fix this fragmented state we now find ourselves in? I believe that once again we should base our sociological views on scientific findings. Quantum theory has been in use for over eighty years and is the most successful scientific theory ever postulated. Quantum Mechanics have given us lasers and superconductive materials. It can also restore our place in the world as decision-makers and writers of life rather than passive players. This is accomplished by placing the function of consciousness in equivalence with the collapse of the wave function. .u7964a3aa8f65d64d53fb0d6cc44032c8 , .u7964a3aa8f65d64d53fb0d6cc44032c8 .postImageUrl , .u7964a3aa8f65d64d53fb0d6cc44032c8 .centered-text-area { min-height: 80px; position: relative; } .u7964a3aa8f65d64d53fb0d6cc44032c8 , .u7964a3aa8f65d64d53fb0d6cc44032c8:hover , .u7964a3aa8f65d64d53fb0d6cc44032c8:visited , .u7964a3aa8f65d64d53fb0d6cc44032c8:active { border:0!important; } .u7964a3aa8f65d64d53fb0d6cc44032c8 .clearfix:after { content: ""; display: table; clear: both; } .u7964a3aa8f65d64d53fb0d6cc44032c8 { display: block; transition: background-color 250ms; webkit-transition: background-color 250ms; width: 100%; opacity: 1; transition: opacity 250ms; webkit-transition: opacity 250ms; background-color: #95A5A6; } .u7964a3aa8f65d64d53fb0d6cc44032c8:active , .u7964a3aa8f65d64d53fb0d6cc44032c8:hover { opacity: 1; transition: opacity 250ms; webkit-transition: opacity 250ms; background-color: #2C3E50; } .u7964a3aa8f65d64d53fb0d6cc44032c8 .centered-text-area { width: 100%; position: relative ; } .u7964a3aa8f65d64d53fb0d6cc44032c8 .ctaText { border-bottom: 0 solid #fff; color: #2980B9; font-size: 16px; font-weight: bold; margin: 0; padding: 0; text-decoration: underline; } .u7964a3aa8f65d64d53fb0d6cc44032c8 .postTitle { color: #FFFFFF; font-size: 16px; font-weight: 600; margin: 0; padding: 0; width: 100%; } .u7964a3aa8f65d64d53fb0d6cc44032c8 .ctaButton { background-color: #7F8C8D!important; color: #2980B9; border: none; border-radius: 3px; box-shadow: none; font-size: 14px; font-weight: bold; line-height: 26px; moz-border-radius: 3px; text-align: center; text-decoration: none; text-shadow: none; width: 80px; min-height: 80px; background: url(https://artscolumbia.org/wp-content/plugins/intelly-related-posts/assets/images/simple-arrow.png)no-repeat; position: absolute; right: 0; top: 0; } .u7964a3aa8f65d64d53fb0d6cc44032c8:hover .ctaButton { background-color: #34495E!important; } .u7964a3aa8f65d64d53fb0d6cc44032c8 .centered-text { display: table; height: 80px; padding-left : 18px; top: 0; } .u7964a3aa8f65d64d53fb0d6cc44032c8 .u7964a3aa8f65d64d53fb0d6cc44032c8-content { display: table-cell; margin: 0; padding: 0; padding-right: 108px; position: relative; vertical-align: middle; width: 100%; } .u7964a3aa8f65d64d53fb0d6cc44032c8:after { content: ""; display: block; clear: both; } READ: Piaget EssayIt would be out of the scope of this work to do any thing but briefly touch on the experimental paradoxes, which explain quantum reality to the layman.
